Are you being called to contemplative prayer?
There will be signs that mean God is calling you to contemplative prayer. These include:
a growing dryness in other forms of prayer, often also in life outside of prayer as well at the same time as prayer no longer satisfies, an increasing need for silence and solitude
some people even lose the ability to meditate entirely for a time, perhaps even the ability to speak to God in words [God is really trying to get your attention if this happens!]
brief moments of contemplation "just happen"
